Daya is the stage name of Grace Martine Tandon, an American singer and composer from Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania. She has a deal with Sandlot Records and AWAL, and on September 4, 2015, she released her self-titled debut EP, "Daya," which features the song "Hide Away," which reached its high position of number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. On October 7, 2016, she released "Sit Still, Look Pretty," her debut studio album. Daya was raised in the Pennsylvania suburb of Mt. Lebanon after being born in Pittsburgh. Her paternal grandfather is an Indian American and a Punjabi who immigrated to the US from Punjab, India. Lou, Mariana, Celia, and Avery are her siblings. Daya, her stage name, is a Sanskrit term that means "kindness" or "compassion." She attended St. Bernard School for elementary school, then Mt. Lebanon High School, where she received her diploma.
