Folk singer-songwriter Lori McKenna was nominated for the prestigious Grammy Award for Song of the Year and won Best Country Song for co-writing the hit “Girl Crush”, performed by Little Big Town. With Tim Mcgraw's “Humble and Kind”, which McKenna also wrote, she won another Grammy Award for Best Country Song. McKenna’s first four CDs: Paper Wings and Halo, Pieces of Me, The Kitchen Tapes, and Bittertown, were all critically acclaimed. She was an immediate success at the very start of her career; she won awards from ASCAP and the Boston Music Awards, performed at the Sundance Film Festival, the Newport Folk Festival and played several sold-out venues in the Northeast. Faith Hill recorded covers of four of Lori’s songs, three of which appeared on Hill’s album Fireflies, and Lori rose to even greater prominence. McKenna appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show with Hill, and landed a record deal with Warner Brothers Nashville. Soon after, she released her album Bittertown, and toured with Hill and Tim McGraw on the Soul2Soul Tour. She has since released six more albums: Unglamorous, Lorraine, Massachusetts, Numbered Doors, The Bird and the Rifle, and The Tree. Some of her other popular songs include, “People Get Old”, “The Bird & the Rifle”, “20 Degrees”, “A Mother Never Rests”, “Young and Angry Again”, and more.
