The group was formed by past member Michael “Ibo” Cooper and Stephen “Cat” Coore who came together to form their own band. Shortly after, they went on to release their self-produced single “Railroad Track” which led them to open for The Jackson Five. Shortly after, the group was signed and they went on to tour with The Wailers before releasing their self-titled debut album. Since then, Third World has gone on to release over 20 more albums, nine of which peaked in the top 200 on the US Billboard charts.
