Brian Lynch is a jazz trumpeter who has won several Grammy Awards over the years. He has previously been a member of Eddie Palmieri’s Afro-Caribbean Jazz group, has led the Latin Side of Mile project and has led his own group, Brian Lynch Big Band. Lynch has won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album for “Simpatico” with Eddie Palmieri. He has also won a Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album for the album “The Omni-American Book Club”. Lynch grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and he later earned a degree from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Lynch spent some time living in San Diego where he gained experience performing with Charles McPherson. From there, he moved to New York and started working with Bill Kirchner. Over the years he became a member of groups Horace Silver Quintet and then the Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra before starting his work with Eddie Palmieri. Lynch has also worked with Phil Woods and Benny Golson. In the late 80’s, Lynch released his first album as a leader entitled, “Peer Pressure”. Since then, he’s gone on to release 20 more albums. Lynch has taught at the University of Miami, New York University, North Netherlands Conservatory, and Stanford Jazz Workshop..
