Roy went on to play college basketball for the University of Washington where he was named Pac-10 Player of the Year and earned All-American honors at the end of the season. From there, Roy was selected 6th pick overall in the NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was then traded to the Portland Trail Blazers where he played for five years before finishing his professional career with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
