Yang graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, an elite boarding school in New Hampshire, and after went on to major in economics and political science at Brown University. After earning his degree, Yang went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School and then started his career as an attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York City. He didn’t like his work as an attorney and then joined Jonathan Philips in launching Stargiving. After the startup folded, Yang became involved in other ventures and was also a vice president of a healthcare startup for several years. After leaving that company, he started working for Manhattan Prep where he became CEO after a few years. After leaving Manhattan Prep, Yang began working on creating the non-profit, Venture for America, which had the mission to create economic opportunity in American cities to help our next generation of entrepreneurs with the right skills and resources to create jobs. He has since stepped down as CEO but continues to advise startups. Most recently, Yang has filed with the FEC to run for President under the Democratic party but has dropped out.
