Cobi Jones is an American former soccer player and analyst for the Los Angeles Galaxy on Time Warner Cable SportsNet. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, but grew up in Southern California. Jones began playing soccer with AYSO and also played high school soccer. After graduating, he went on to make the UCLA soccer team where he was one of it’s most successful soccer-playing graduates. Jones went on to play for the United States national team and he played with them in three FIFA World Cups. He also helped them to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup and represented the United States at the Summer Olympics in Barcelona as well as at Copa America. Apart from his career with the United States, Jones also played for club teams Coventry City, Vasco de Gama and LA Galaxy. With LA Galaxy, Jones won a CONCACAF Champions’ Cup, two MLS Cups, two Supporters’ Shield, two U.S. Open Cups, and played in the Western Conference five times. Since retiring as a player, Jones has been an assistant coach for the LA Galaxy, has been the interim head coach for LA Galaxy, and has been associate director of soccer with the New York Cosmos.
