David Tua, also known as “Tuaman” or “The Tuamanator”, is a Samoan former professional boxer from Samoan, New Zealand. He was a highly ranked heavyweight contender and he was known for his left hook and his punching power. Tua also scored 16 wins by knockout in the first round alone and he won by knockout against heavyweight champions John Ruiz and Michael Moorer. Tua was previously featured in The Ring magazine as 48th of 100 greatest punchers of all time. During his amateur career, Tua represented New Zealand at the Oceanian Championships where he earned gold in the heavyweight division. He also competed in the World Championships where he earned bronze in the heavyweight division and played at the Olympic Games where he won bronze in heavyweight division. As a professional, Tua competed in a total of 59 fights, won 52 of them, won 43 by KO, lost 5 and held 2 draws.
