Amaryllis Fox is a former CIA Clandestine Service Officer, a writer, and peace activist from New York City, New York. Fox’s father was an economist so she spent her childhood moving every year and lived in several different countries and lived in Europe, Africa, Asia, and even the former Soviet Union. When Fox was 16 years old she moved back to the United States and studied aerospace engineering at the Naval Academy and studied international law at Oxford. Before graduating, Fox volunteered at the Mai Laa refugee camp and from there, worked with the Burmese democracy movement and interviewed Aung San Suu Kyi for the BBC which landed her in Burmese prison for a short time. Fox went on to graduate from Oxford with an honors degree and started her graduate work in international security at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. After working in the CIA, Fox started Mulu, an e-commerce company, worked for Twitter’s global e-commerce business, and then left to focus on writing. Fox has given a TED Talk, has been the co-host of the series “American Ripper” and has published the book “Life Undercover.”.
