Jessica Shortall is a speaker, writer, consultant, advocate, author, and strategist on business engagement in social impact and social and political issues. She is known for being the author of the book “Work, Pump, Repeat: The New Mom’s Survival Guide to Breastfeeding and Going Back to Work” and for her TED talk at TEDxSMU that is entitled, “The American Case for Paid Maternity Leave.” Shortall has previously studied at Wake Forest University where she co-founded a student organization called Homerun, which was an organization that engaged students to cook and deliver dinners for members of the community. Shortall went on to work with Catalyst Strategy Advisors, which was a consultancy and corporate finance business. From there she went on to be a strategy consultant where she worked with numerous companies all over the world before going on to be the Director of Giving at TOMS. While with TOMS, Shortall moved up to Director of Social Innovation where she led innovation efforts for TOMS’ global social impact team.
