Mo Barrett is a anecdotist, connector, and leadership speaker who began her career in the Air Force Academy. During her time with the Air Force Academy, Barrett had a successful failure after she was the first member of her pilot training class to earn an “Unsatisfactory” grade. As a pilot in the Air Force, Barrett went on to fly all over Central and South America before moving to Northern California where she flew the Lockheed C-5 all over the world. After the terrorist attack on 9/11, Barrett was deployed to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan where her and a small team converted austere fields to airlift hubs. As a speaker, Barrett talks on her struggles of being a non-conformist and lesbian in the military. After 25 years in the Air Force, Barrett retired as a Colonel. She has earned her B.S. in General Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy and has gone on to earn her Master’s degree in Military and Strategic Leadership from Naval War College. Since her service in the Air Force, Barrett has gone on to be owner of Grin and Be and Grinnin B Photography. She is also a certified public speaker with The John Maxwell Team and as a speaker, she has given a TED talk at TEDx Youngstown called ‘The Power of Pulling Your Head Out.’.
