Judson Brewer is an American neuroscientist, author, and psychiatrist who studies the mechanisms of mindfulness who has used his research to turn it into programs that treat addictions. Brewer is the founder of MindSciences, Inc., which is now known as DrJud, an app-based treatment program for anxiety, smoking, and overeating. Brewer is the Director of Research and Innovation at Mindfulness Center and is also an associate professor in psychiatry at the School of Medicine at Brown University. He has also previously held teaching and research positions at Yale University as well as at the University of Massachusetts’ Center for Mindfulness. Brewer has earned his A.B. in chemistry from Princeton University and went on to earn his M.D. from the Washington University School of Medicine where he also earned his Ph.D. in immunology. Brewer went on to work in the post-doctoral Neuroscience Research Training Program at the Yale School of Medicine. He went on to complete his residency in psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and began his career as an assistant professor at Yale University School of Medicine.
