Dana Leong is an American musician, composer, producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and Grammy Award winning multi-instrumentalist. Leong was born in San Francisco, California, to a mother who was a pianist. While growing up, Leong’s mother gave piano lessons to clients, as Leong would sleep in her lap. After Leong himself began taking violin lessons, his teacher found he had perfect pitch. Leong went on to begin studying the cello and trombone and competed in numerous music competitions before he was even 10 years old. While studying in middle school and high school, Leong began playing the cello and trombone in the California All State Jazz and classical ensembles, the Monterey Jazz Festival, and more. When Leong was only 16 years old, he became the youngest professor of jazz at the Stanford University Summer Jazz Workshop where he still continues to teach. After graduating high school, Leong moved to New York to study at Jazz Trombone and Orchestral Cello at the Manhattan School of Music on a full scholarship. Over the course of his professional career, Leong has performed alongside musicians such as DJ A-Trak, Ray Charles, Bjork, Boyz II Men, Lionel Hampton, and many more. Apart from his solo career, Leong has also formed the group, TEKTONIK, which is an artist collective that uses music as a remedy to natural disasters and trauma around the world..
