Stephen Karam is an American screenwriter and playwright who grew up in a Lebanese-American family in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Karam went on to earn his degree at Brown University and then was an apprentice at the Utah Shakespeare Festival where he met Arian Moayed and P.J. Paparelli, whom he collaborated with on ‘columbinus’ and directed ‘The Humans’ in Chicago with. After making it’s premiere at the American Theater Company in Chicago, The Humans went on to have a run on Broadway as well as off-Broadway and it was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and won a Tony Award for Best Play. Karam’s other notable play is ‘Sons of the Prophet,’ which earned him a Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics’ Circle Award, Lucille Lortel Award, and was a Pulizer Prize Finalist.
