Sir Ridley Scott is an English film director, filmmaker and film producer from South Shields, County Durham, England. Scott had a passion for science-fiction films as a young age after reading novels of H.G. Wells. After watching the film “2001: A Space Odyssey,” Scott knew he wanted to make films and went on to earn a degree in design from West Hartlepool College of Art. From there, he went on to study at the Royal College of Art in London where he helped to establish the college film department. After graduating, Scott worked as a trainee set designer for BBC where he helped work on series such as “Z-Cars” and “Out of the Unknown.” He moved his way up and began directing television series for BBC before going on to found Ridley Scott Assocations with Tony Scott. Scott went on to make his directing debut with the film “The Duellists.” From there, he went on to direct “Alien” which is when his career really took off. Scott has since been director and or producer of films such as “Blade Runner,” “Legend,” “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “Black Rain,” “Thelma & Louise,” “Gladiator,” “Hannibal,” “Black Hawk Down,” “American Gangster,” “Prometheus,” “Alien: Covenant,” “The Martian,” and many more.
