Mosteller was born in Akron, Ohio, and he went on to graduate summa cum laude with a B.S. in international business from Ohio State University. He also spent time studying at DePaul University. Mosteller began his political career with the Clinton administration where he traveled with President Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton around the world. Mosteller helped prep for the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and from there, he began working as Operations and Logistics Manager for the Summer and Winter Olympics. Mosteller went on to assist with the Obama presidential campaign where he developed policies and procedures to organize Obama’s travels and events. After Obama took office as President, Mosteller served as Director of Oval Office Operations his entire eight-year administration. During his time serving in the White House, Mosteller married his partner, Joe Mahshie, in a private ceremony that was officiated by former Vice President Joe Biden.
