Munoz was born in Detroit, Michigan, and she earned her B.A. in English and Latin American studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, before going on to earn her M.A. in Latin American studies from the University of California, Berkeley. During her time on President Obama’s staff, Munoz became the first Hispanic person to serve the role of Director of the Domestic Policy Council.
