Givens was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and he began his career playing football in high school in Humble, Texas, nefore going on to play college football at Notre Dame, where he mainly played as a running back. During his time with the New England Patriots, Givens won two Super Bowl championships and during the second year that the Patriots won the Super Bowl while Givens was playing with them, he was the number two receiver for the second year in a row. He was also a record holder in postseason touchdown receptions until Rob Gronkowski surpassed his record. After playing with the Patriots for three years, Givens went on to sign with the Tennessee Titans, which he played with until he tore his ACL which led him to have to retire from the NFL.
