Cartel Madras is a Canadian hip-hop duo that consists of sisters Eboshi and Contra. The duo were born in Chennai, India, and emigrated to Calgary at a young age. The sisters formed Cartel Madras after watching a performance from Princess Nokia and they also found influence in artists such as Scarface, M.I.A. and Freddie Gibbs. Cartel Madras began their career recording and releasing music through the outlet Soundcloud. They also self-produced and released their debut mixtape, “Project Goonda Part 1: Trapistan,” which led them to start the collective, THOTPOLICE. After the release of their mixtape, Cartel Madras went on to open for Cupcakke and also performed at Pop Montreal. They have also toured all over Canada and have opened for Fetty Wap, Clipping and Hollerado. Since then, Cartel Madras has gone on to release their debut EP, “Age of the Goonda.” Some of their popular singles include “Pork and Leek,” “Lil Pump Type Beat,” and “Goonda Gold.”.
