Bailiff was born in Dallas, Texas, and he began his career playing as an offensive lineman and tight end for Southwest Texas State University where he was also team captain during his senior year. After graduating from college, Bailiff began his career as a coach first working as a defensive lineman at New Braunfels High School in Texas. From there, he went on to work as a graduate assistant at Southwest Texas State where he worked his way up to defensive lineman coach.
