Harsin was born in Boise, Idaho, and he began his career playing high school football at Capital High School before going on to play as a quarterback at Boise State University where he was a three-year letterman and earned his bachelor’s degree in business management. Harsin went on to begin his coaching career starting as a running backs, wide receivers and quarterbacks coach at Eastern Oregon University.
