Jordan was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and while growing up, he exceled in playing both baseball and football in high school and went on to study at the University of Richmond before going on to be selected in the MLB draft as well as the NFL draft. Jordan began his career playing football for the Buffalo Bills but was released and then played with the Atlanta Falcons.
