Al Bumbry is a former MLB professional outfielder who played almost the entirety of his career with the Baltimore Orioles. Bumbry was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and he began his career playing baseball in high school before going on to play college baseball as well as basketball at Virginia State College where he also served two years in the US Army. Bumbry then was selected in the 11th round of the MLB draft by the Baltimore Orioles and he went on to play for the Stockton Ports, the Aberdeen Pheasants, the Asheville Orioles and Rochester Red Wings before being called up to the Orioles. During his time playing with the Orioles, Bumbry became an All-Star selection, a World Series champion, and was an AL Rookie of the Year. He has since gone on to be inducted into the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame. Bumbry also spent a year playing with the San Diego Padres.
