Richard Seymour is an American former professional football defensive lineman who played in the NFL. Seymour was born in Gadsden, South Carolina, and he began his career playing football in high school where he won first team All-Region honors, first team all-area honor and was voted the best defensive lineman and an All-Area Player of the Week award. He went on to play college football at the University of Georgia where he was a first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection twice and was named a first-team All-American. From there, Seymour went on to be selected in the first round, sixth overall pick by the New England Patriots in the NFL draft. During his time playing for the Patriots, Seymour helped them to win three Super Bowl championships and was also a five-time Pro Bowl selection, a three-time first-team All-Pro, and a second-team All-Pro. Seymour went on to play for the Oakland Raiders for the remainder of his NFL career and while with them he was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and a second-team All-Pro.
