Bob Stanley is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played in the MLB and spent the entirety of his MLB career pitching for the Boston Red Sox. Stanley was born in Portland, Maine, and he began his career playing baseball in his high school where he earned All-star honors as a pitcher-shortstop. He went on to be drafted in the MLB by the Boston Red Sox where he played for thirteen years. Stanley had been the Red Sox’s all-time saves leader and was the all-time leader in appearances and went on to become a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame. During his time with the Red Sox, he was also a two-time All-Star selection and almost won the team a World Series. After retiring from the MLB, Stanley finished his career with a 115-97 win-loss record, had a 3.64 earned run average, had 693 strikeouts and 132 saves.
