Jack Youngblood is an American former professional football player who played as a defensive end for the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL for the entirety of his professional career. Youngblood has gone on to work in the offices for various football teams which include the Rams, the Sacramento Surge, the Sacramento Gold Miners, and has also been the vice-president and then president of the Orlando Predators before going on to work as the NFL liaison for the Arena Football League. Youngblood was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and he began his career playing football in high school where he earned All-State honors before going on to be named All-Big Bend, All-Conference and Big Bend Lineman of the Year. From there, Youngblood went on to play college football at the University of Florida where he was a first-team All-SEC and first-team All-American. After earning his bachelor’s degree, Youngblood went on to be selected in the first round, 20th overall pick in the NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. During his time playing professionally, Youngblood was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, five-time first-team All-Pro, three-time second-team All-Pro, UPI NFC Defensive Player of the Year, and two-time NFC Defensive Player of the Year. He has also been on the NFL 1970s All-Decade Team, has had his number 85 retired by the Rams, and has earned their Ring of Fame. Since retiring he has also been an actor, a broadcaster, and written an autobiography, “Blood.”.
