Hugh Green is a former American professional football linebacker who played in the NFL for 10 years. Green was born in Natchez, Mississippi, and he began his career playing football in high school before going on to play college football at the University of Pittsburgh. During his time playing college football, Green had numerous accomplishments which include being a four-time first-team All-Big East, second-team All-American, three-time consensus All-American, UPI Lineman of the Year, UPI Player of the Year, Sporting News Player of the Year, a Lombardi Award winner, Maxwell Award winner, and a Walter Camp award winner. Green went on to be selected in the first round, 7th overall pick in the NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During his time playing with the Buccaneers, Green was a two-time Pro Bowl selection as well as a two-time first-team All-Pro. After playing with the Buccaneers for four years, Green went on to play for the Miami Dolphins the rest of his career. Since retiring, Green has gone on to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and has also had his number 99 retired from the Pittsburgh Panthers..
