Brown was born in Farmington, Michigan, and he began his career playing football in high school where he earned all-state honors. Brown went on to play college football at the University of Kansas where he was named as the Co-Defensive MVP, earned second-team All-Big Eight Conference recognition, and earned selection of All-Academic Big Eight. He went on to be selected in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings but was waived after final roster cuts and was picked up by the Green Bay Packers where he spent the entirety of his career. During his time playing with the Packers, Brown helped them to win a Super Bowl championship. After retiring as a player, Brown went on to work as a head coach for the Milwaukee Bonecrushers of the CIFL, then worked as head coach of the La Crosse Spartans, and most previously was the head coach of the Green Bay Chill..
