Brown grew up in Brooklyn and began his career playing basketball in high school where he also played with Team USA in the Maccabiah Games where he helped them to win gold. Brown went on to play college basketball at the University of North Carolina where he was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference player. Brown went on to be selected in the 7th round of the NBA Draft by the Baltimore Bullets before going on to play for the New Orleans Buccaneers, Oakland Oaks, Washington Caps, Virginia Squires and Denver Rockets. After a short playing career, Brown went on to begin working as an assistant coach for the University of North Carolina.
