Kyle Whittingham is an American football coach and former professional football player who is currently a head football coach at the University of Utah. Whittingham was born in San Louis Obispo, California, and he began his career playing football in high school before going on to play college football at BYU. During his college career, Whittingham earned first-team all-WAC and WAC Defensive Player of the Year honors and was named the defensive MVP of the Holiday Bowl. From there, Whittingham went on to play football with the Denver Gold of the USFL, and then played with the New Orleans Breakers of the USFL and the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL. Around the same time, Whittingham also began working as a graduate assistant for BYU before going on to work as a defensive coordinator for Eastern Utah. Over the course of his career, Whittingham went on to coach for Idaho State, and the University of Utah. During his time with Utah, he has helped them to win a Fiesta Bowl, a Sugar Bowl, three Pac-12 South Divisions and 1 MWC championship.
