Lloyd Carr is an American former football quarterback and former football coach. Carr was born in Hawkins County, Tennessee, and he began his career playing football in high school before going on to play college football first at the University of Missouri and then Northern Michigan University. After earning his M.A. in education administration, Carr went on to begin his career working as an assistant coach at Nativity High School and then also worked as an assistant coach at Belleville High School and a head coach at John Glenn High School. Moving towards coaching for colleges, Carr began working as an assistant coach for Eastern Michigan. Since then, he has worked as a defensive backs coach, defensive coordinator and assistant head coach for colleges which include the University of Illinois, West Virginia, and University of Michigan. He also was head coach for Michigan before retiring. During his time with Michigan, Carr helped them to win one National championship and five Big Ten championships. He has been an AFCA Coach of the Year and earned awards which include the George Munger Award, Paul “Bear” Bryant Award, Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award and Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award..
