Thomas Siebel is an American businessman, technologist, and author who is the founder, chairman, and CEO of C3.ai, an AI software platform and applications company. Siebel has also been founder of the software company, Siebel Systems. Siebel was born in Chicago, Illinois, and he has earned his B.A. in history at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, his M.B.A. and M.S. in computer science and an honorary doctorate of engineering from there as well. Siebel began his career in business at Oracle Corporation before going on to be the chief executive officer of Gain Technology, a company that later merged with Sybase. From there, Siebel went on to form his own company, Siebel Systems, which worked with CRM applications. Siebel originally proposed the idea of his company to Oracle while working there, but after they turned him down he founded it himself and later had his company merged with Oracle. More recently, Siebel has founded C3.ai which has worked with companies which include 3M, Royal Dutch Shell, the US Air Force, and New York Power Authority.
