Jean-Michel Blais is a Canadian composer and pianist from Nicolet, Quebec. While growing up, Blais found his love for music from his parents; his father would sing and his mother played the organ. As a teenager, Blais went on to begin taking piano lessons and also studied at the Trois-Rivieres Music Conservatory but ended up leaving his studies after two years as he found it exhausting. Blais then went on to begin traveling and found himself working at an orphanage in Guatemala before moving to Berlin, then Buenos Aires, Argentina.
