Mark Whipple is an American football coach and former football quarterback who is currently the offensive coordinator for the University of Pittsburgh. Whipple was born in Tarrytown, New York, and he began his career playing football in high school where he was named the Arizona Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was an All-State performer. He went on to play college football at Brown University where he was a member of the Ivy League championship team, was a two-time honorable mention All-Ivy pick, and has since been inducted into the Brown Athletic Hall of Fame. Whipple went on to begin his career as a coach first working as an assistant coach at St. Lawrence University. Over the course of his career he has gone on to work with schools and teams which include Union College, Brown University, Arizona Wranglers, New Hampshire, New Haven, UMass, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, University of Miami, and the Cleveland Browns. Whipple has worked as a head coach, offensive coordinator coach, wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach, and assistant head coach. During his time with the Steelers, he helped them to win a Super Bowl. During his time with UMass he helped them to win three A-10’s, and the NCAA Division I-AA National Champion. He has gone on to earn awards which include the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year and the AFCA Division I-AA Coach of the Year award..
