Hoenig is the vice chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and is the former President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. Hoenig was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, and he went on to earn his B.A. in economics and mathematics from Benedictine College before going on to earn both his M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Iowa State University.
