Bertrand Piccard is a Swiss psychiatrist and aviator who is known for flying balloons. He has been known for being the first to complete a balloon flight around the world which was non-stop alongside Brian Jones. The balloon that the duo flew was called the Breitling Orbiter 3 and he has since gone on to be an initiator, chairman, and co-pilot of Solar Impulse, which was the first solar-powered flight that also successfully flew around the world. Piccard was born in Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland, and is the son of Jacques Piccard, and the grandson of Auguste Piccard. While growing up, Piccard often saw several splace flights from Cape Canaveral which led him to grow a love for flying. He went on to earn a degree in psychiatry from the University of Lausanne and then went on to begin working as a lecturer and supervisor at the Swiss Medical Society for Hypnosis.
