Sheng Wang is a Taiwanese-American stand-up comedian and television writer who has previously been a staff writer for the sitcom “Fresh Off the Boat.” Wang was born in Taipei City, Taiwan, and he has earned his B.S. in Business from the University of California, Berkeley. Upon earning his degree, Wang began to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian and began performing throughout cities which included New York City and San Francisco. After a few years of performing stand-up, Wang caught his first break performing at the Montreal Comedy Festival. A few years later, he had his first comedy special featured on the series “Comedy Central Presents” and that same year, he earned top honors at the NBC Universal’s Stand Up for Diversity comedy search. Since then, Wang has gone on to appear in “John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show,” “Comedians of Comedy,” American Eagle’s Campus Comedy Challenge and “Live at Gotham.” All of these appearances led him to compete in the competition series “Last Comic Standing” where he finished in the top 10 percent. After performing in Last Comic Standing, Wang then earned the job as a writer for Fresh Off the Boat. He has since also gone on to appear on the series “2 Dope Queens,” has opened for John Mulaney at Clusterfest, and has released the comedy album “Cornucopias Are Actually Horrible Containers.”.
