Pissarides is a British-Cypriot economist who has been the Professor of Economics and Political Science and the Regius Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics, and Professor of European Studies at the University of Cyprus. Through his work in economics, Pissarides has done research on topics which include macroeconomics, labour, economic growth, and economic policy. Pissarides was born in Nicosia, Cyprus, and has previously earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Essex before going on to earn his Ph.D. in economics from the London School of Economics.
