Finn Kydland is a Norwegian economist who is best known for his work and research on business cycle theory. While growing up, Kydland found his love for mathematics and economics while working as a bookkeeper for a friend for a while. From there, he went on to earn his BSc from the Norwegian School of Economics before going on to earn his Ph.D. in economics from Carnegie Mellon University. While earning his Ph.D., Kydland published his dissertation on ‘Decentralized Marcoeconomic Planning.’ After finishing his Ph.D., he went on to begin working at Norwegian School of Economics as an assistant professor and then worked at Carnegie Mellon as an associate professor as well. He has since gone on to earn a Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics for his contributions to dynamic macroeconomics with Edward C. Prescott.
