Dana Bowman is a retired First Class Sergeant who has served in the U.S. Army as a Special Forces Solider and a member of their elite parachute team, the Golden Knights. During his service, Bowman had to cut his time short as he lost both of his legs in an accident during a Golden Knights training in Yuma, Arizona. The accident led him to be a double amputee but that didn’t stop Bowman, only nine months after the accident, he returned to re-enlist in the United States Army as the first double amputee. Bowman then went on to skydive into the ceremony and after re-enlisting, Bowman became the lead speaker and recruiting commander for the U.S. Parachute Team. Through his work, Bowman has wanted to show that physically challenged people can still be successful and work alongside others. He has gone on to be a keynote speaker that has given thousands of speeches and his story has also been featured in outlets which include Sports Illustrated, People, Reader’s Digest, Extra, Dateline, A Current Affair, and more. About two years after re-enlisting in the Army, Bowman retired and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in commercial aviation from the UND Aerospace.
