Anohni is an English-born singer-songwriter and visual artist who rose to fame as the former lead singer of the band Antony and the Johnsons. Anohni was born in Chichester, England, and lived in Amsterdam for a short time before moving to San Francisco. While growing up, Anohni found influence in artists which included Kate Bush, Marc Almond, Alison Moyet, Boy George, Rozz Williams, Otis Redding, Donny Hathaway, and more. After finishing high school, Anohni moved to New York City to study at the Experimental Theatre Wing of New York University. While there, she founded the collective Blacklips before going on to form Antony and the Johnsons. Through her work with Antony and the Johnsons, the band released four studio albums, their most popular being their second album, “I Am a Bird Now,” which earned gold in Norway, the UK and Sweden. The band also released several EPS which included “Hope There’s Someone,” “You Are My Sister,” “Another World,” and “Thank You for Your Love.” As a solo artist under the name Anohni, she has released the album “Hopelessness” and the EP, “Paradise.” Anohni has won several awards which include a Mercury Prize, New York Music Award and a Rober Awards Music Poll..
