Rex Brown is an American musician and songwriter who rose to fame as the bassist of the heavy metal band, Pantera. He has also previously been a member of the heavy metal band Down, and for the band Kill Devil Hill. Brown was born in Graham, Texas, and he found his love for music through his grandmother who taught him how to play piano at a young age. While growing up, Brown listened to a wide range of music and began playing bass when he was 12 years old. He later went on to join Pantera under the name Rex Rocker before later taking on the name Rex Brown. With Pantera, Brown appeared on nine of their albums from “Metal Magic,” up to “Reinventing the Steel.” Apart from his long career with Pantera, Brown has recorded three albums with Down which include “Down II: A Bustle in Your Hedgerow,” “Down III: Over the Under,” and “Diary of a Mad Band: Europe in the Year of VI.” Brown has also been featured in albums for artists and bands which include Jerry Cantrell, Crowbar, and David Allan Coe and Cowboys from Hell. He has also recorded two albums with Kill Devil Hill.
