Tate McRae is a Canadian singer-songwriter and dancer who rose to fame competing in the reality television series “So You Think You Can Dance.” McRae was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and when she was only four years old her and her family moved to Oman, where her mother taught dance lessons for three years. By the time she was six, McRae began taking dance training and when she moved back to Calgary at eight years old she began training more intensively in dance and competed with Drewitz Dance Productions. She then trained at YYC Dance Project, did ballet training at the School of Alberta Ballet, and at the Alberta Ballet Company. As a competitive dancer, McRae has been named Best Female Dancer in the Mini category at the Dance Awards in New York City and then won the Best Female Dancer in the Junior category two years later. As a dancer, McRae performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, performed on Justin Bieber’s Purpose World Tour, before competing in So You Think You Can Dance. Moving into music, McRae upload her first original song to YouTube, “One Day,” which caught the attention of RCA Records and signed her.
