Pillow Queens is an Irish indie-rock band from Dublin, Ireland, which consists of members Sarah Corcoran, Rachel Lyons, Cathy McGuinness and Pamela Connolly. The band was formed by Corcoran and Connolly as the duo had just left bands they previously played with and wanted to form a band that consists of four queer women. This led them to add in members McGuinness and Lyons, whom they had both known for a long time. After their formation, Pillow Queens released their demo EP, “Calm Girls,” which led them to perform at festivals in Ireland which included Electric Picnic and All Together Now. Two years later, Pillow Queens released their second EP, “State of the State,” which led them to open for bands which included Pussy Riot, Future Islands, and Idles. The following year, Pillow Queens went on to release the single “Brothers,” which was featured on their debut studio album, “In Waiting.” Their debut studio album also featured the singles “Handsome Wife” and “Holy Show.”.
