Kagge is known for being the first person to complete the Three Poles Challenge; which is reaching the North and South Pole of the summit of Mount Everest on foot. Kagge alongside Borge Ousland became the first two people to ever reach the summit of the North Pole unsupported. They began their expedition on Ellesmere Island and it took them 58 days to reach the North Pole. After that, Kagge went on his own unsupported and solo expedition to reach the summit of the South Pole which took him 50 days. His efforts led him to be on the cover of the international edition of TIME Magazine. Since being the first person to complete the Three Poles Challenge, Kagge has gone on to publish several books some of which include ‘Pole to Pole and Beyond,’ ‘Philosophy for Polar Explorers,’ ‘Walking: One Step At a Time,’ ‘Manhattan Underground,’ and more. He also went on to study philosophy at Cambridge University. As a lawyer, Kagge has previously worked for Norsk Hydro. Kagge has previously founded the publishing house, Kagge Forlag and he is also known for collecting international contemporary art.
