Briston Maroney is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Knoxville, Tennessee, who performs a mixture of music that is indie, folk and rock. Maroney began his musical career at 15 years old when he first auditioned for the 13th season of “American Idol.” After his auditioned, he was invited to audition in front of the judges in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he sang The Rolling Stones’ song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” He was then chosen to be a semi-finalist in Hollywood, but Maroney didn’t make it past that. After auditioning for American Idol, Maroney then began playing guitar and singing in the local bluegrass band, Subtle Clutch for a few years. He also began busking in Knoxville and found himself performing at some of the most iconic Knoxville venues such as Dollywood, WDVX Blue Plate Special, and the music festival Knoxville’s Rhythm N’ Blooms. He also studied music at Lipscomb University. After deciding to pursue a solo career, Maroney independently released his debut EP, “Reason to Shake.” He followed that up with his second EP that same year, “Big Shot,” and then released singles “Under My Skin” and “Freakin’ Out on the Interstate.” Both of his singles were featured on his third EP, “Carnival.” Most recently, Maroney has released his fourth EP, “Indiana.”.
