The band consists of members Yirrna Yunupinu, Roy Kellaway, Dimathaya Burarrwanga and Campbell Messer. Their music is a mixture of indie, pop, rock, and roots, and they find influence in artists and bands which include the Talking Heads, Parcels, Phoenix, Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, and the Wombats. The members of the band grew up together touring with Yothu Yindi and went on to become full-time members of Yothu Yindi before forming King Stingray.
