Jackie Tohn is an American actress, comedian, writer, host, and musician, who is best known for playing Melanie “MelRose” Rosen on the Netflix original series “GLOW,” and for participating in the 8th season of “American Idol,” where she finished in the top 36. Tohn was born in Oceanside, New York, and she began acting professionally while still studying in school. She went on to study elementary education at the University of Delaware and during this time, was part of the a cappella group the Deltones. As an actress, Tohn made her acting debut at 10 years old after acting in the series “The Nanny.” Over the next few years, Tohn went on to act in series “The Sopranos” and “Strangers with Candy” before making her film debut in “Dawg.” Since then, Tohn’s film credits have gone on to include “Deuces Wild,” “Postal,” “Jem and the Holograms,” “Sisters,” “CHiPs,” and “A Futile and Stupid Gesture.” Apart from her roles in film, Tohn has acted in various television series which include playing Jackie on “For a Green Card,” Alexis on “The Good Place,” and Polly Amorous on “Royalties.” She has also been the host for the Netflix cook competition series “Best Leftovers Ever!.” As a musician, Tohn has released two albums, “Beguiling” and “2.Yo.”.
