Arvind Subramanian is an Indian economist who has previously been the 16th Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India. Subramanian was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, and he earned his B.A. in Economics from Delhi University before going on to earn his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management and his M.Phil and D. Phil from the University of Oxford. After working as an educator, Subramanian began working as the Chief Economic Adviser for the Government of India and during this time, he brought out the Economic Survey of India. Since then, he has gone on to be an economics professor for Ashoka University. Subramanian has also published books over the course of his career which include ‘India’s Turn: Understanding the Economic Transformation’ and ‘Eclipse: Living in the Shadow of China’s Economic Dominance.’.
