Alexandra Ashley Hughes, better known as Allie X, is a Canadian singer-songwriter and visual artist who began her career performing as an indie-pop artist in Toronto. Allie X’s music is a mixture of indie pop, synth-pop, electropop, avant-garde pop and electro-goth. She has studied classical piano and voice at the Interlochen Arts Academy and went on to graduate from Sheridan College’s Musical Theatre Performance program where she also studied musical theatre. Allie X began performing under the name Allie Hughes in Toronto and was featured on the series “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria.” She has since gone on to act in series and films in Canada which include “King,” “Being Erica,” “Instant Star” and “The Boys in the Photograph.” Allie X went on to move to Los Angeles a few years later to pursue a career as a songwriter and to pursue a solo career. She eventually released her solo single “Catch,” which went on to be featured in outlets such as TIME Magazine, DIY Magazine, and more. Allie X then released her debut EP, “CollXtion I.” Since then, she has released four more EPs, “Catch EP,” “CollXtion II: Unsolved,” “Super Sunset,” and has released two studio albums, “CollXtion II” and “Cape God.” Some of her most popular singles include “Paper Love,” “Casanova,” and “Love Me Wrong.”.
